Militancy poster boy Burhan Wani killed in Kashmir gunfight

Srinagar, July 8 (IANS) Burhan Wani, the most sought after local guerrilla commander who had become a poster boy of militancy in Kashmir, was killed along with two associates in a gunfight with security forces in Jammu and Kashmir’s Anantnag district on Friday.

A senior police officer told IANS in summer capital Srinagar: “Hizbul Mujahideen’s (HM) most wanted local commander Burhan Wani was killed on Friday in a gunfight with the security forces in Bamdoora (Kokarnag) village of Anantnag district.”
