Despite mixed audience response and press reviews Harshvardhan Kapoor’s Mirzya has as an edge over Prabhudheva’s Tutak Tutak Tutiya on the opening day of both the films.
Mirzya is an epic based on Punjabi folklore which the people in the other Indian cultures have little knowledge of while Tutak Tutak Tutiya is a horror comedy.
Trade analysts predicted that Mirzya and Tutak Tutak Tutiya would clash at the box office, but they would have decent openings as they belong to different genre.
However, both these Bollywood movies have failed to attract an enthusiastic response from the audience despite the hype and the promotions campaigns generated.
Mirzya has more number of screens than Tutak Tutak Tutiya, as the latter has been released in Tamil as Devi and in Telugu as Abhinetri in south India.
The Harshvardhan Kapoor starrer has an average of 15 to 20 percent of occupancy in both single screens and multiplexes in the morning shows in the country.
The Prabhudheva starrer witnessed around 10 to 15 percent footfalls in the morning shows.
A trade expert : “#Mirzya morning-afternoon trends very weak… Needs a miraculous jump in evening + night shows and also on Sat + Sun to leave a mark at BO.”
Word of mouth is expected to take their collections upwards in afternoon and evening shows.
Both the movies are likely to fare well at the theatres in North India, but they may not do the same in the south because the Bollywood movies are clashing with several big movies from Telugu, Tamil, Kannada and Malayalam.
As per early trends, Mirzya and Tutak Tutak Tutiya are likely to collect less than Rs 15 crore together at the Indian box office on the first day. – CINEWS
