Johannesburg, Feb.25 (ANI): Pakistan Test captain Misbah-ul-Haq has expressed that the just-concluded Pakistan Super League will help his country’s cricket to flourish in the Twenty20 format.

Pakistan, which lifted World T20 title in 2009, have been struggling in the shortest format of the game and currently stand sixth in the rankings.

Misbah, who led Islamabad United to the first-ever PSL title in the United Arab Emirates on Tuesday, insisted that the lucrative tournament would help Pakistan players in the same manner as IPL did to Indians and BPL has done to Bangladesh players, Sport24 reported.

Pakistan’s players had been largely missing out on Twenty20 exposure against international stars because they are banned from participating in the Indian Premier League.

While explosive batsman Umar Akmal accumulated most number of runs (335 in seven matches) in the tournament, previously unheralded left-arm spinner Mohammad Nawaz and fast bowler Rumman Raees secured their berths in the national squad for next month’s World T20 on the back of good performances in the PSL.

Meanwhile, 35-year-old pacer Mohammad Sami also earned a national recall on the strength of his performances throughout the tournament. (ANI)
