The City of Mississauga is running a campaign to ensure all provincial parties and candidates understand the importance of Mississauga and make investing in the city a priority. A visit to the website www.MississaugaMatters.org provides more illumination on the issues.

The City of Mississauga is also hosting two events to engage residents.

One called ‘Candidates and Resident Information Night’ was held on Thursday, May 17, while the other event which should interest a wide section of the public is the All-Candidates’ Debate which takes place on Tuesday, May 22, between 7:00 pm – 8:30 pm at Mississauga City Hall, Council Chambers (300 City Centre Drive).

If you wish to attend you need to RSVP.

A press release sent out said: “To continue to grow and prosper, Mississauga needs a committed provincial partner. We cannot do this alone because we simply do not have the tools needed to build the infrastructure necessary to keep Mississauga moving forward.

“We need the provincial government to partner with us to make investments to build more housing that is affordable to the middle-income so that people can live and work in Mississauga.

“We need the provincial government to continue to make investments in our local infrastructure to help us build community centres, roads, bridges, parks, trails, bike lanes and everything else that makes Mississauga a great place to live.

“And, we need a provincial partner to make significant investments in our local and regional transit systems – like GO Transit and the Hurontario LRT – to allow us to break gridlock and congestion and get people and businesses moving.”

If these are any of the issues that concern you, then attend the debate or at least keep up to speed with where provincial candidates stand on them. – CINEWS
