This week Mississauga Mayor formally announced her candidacy to run for a second term as Mayor of Mississauga.
In an open letter to Mississauga residents, Mayor Crombie pointed to her several accomplishments and reiterated her belief in the limitless potential of Mississauga.
“Working with Council, we are making investments in transit and transportation infrastructure; we’re leading the way to build housing for our middle class; and we’ve taken steps to address climate change and protect our Great Lakes.
We’ve attracted new businesses and created jobs; moved forward on important developments across our City, including in our downtown, on our waterfront and the Britannia Farm; and we’ve stood up for a diverse, inclusive community where everyone has a place to call home.
Working together, we are building Mississauga into a world-class City. Mississauga is a City on the move and our best days are ahead of us.
It is the honour of a lifetime to serve as Mayor, and I hope to earn the privilege to continue to work hard every day on behalf of our City.
No one has yet officially put forward their name to run against the formidable mayor, but it is a given that there will be a few who put their names forward. Hopefully those who do aren’t simply real estate agents hoping to cash in on some free publicity that comes from opposing a mayor.
Meanwhile like her predecessor Mayor Hazel McCallion who ran in one mayoral race after another with little or no real opponent, Mayor Crombie for now seems to have a similar experience. – CINEWS
