The Civic Holiday was when hundreds of Mississauga residents turned out to celebrate their diversity at the Multicultural Festival 2016 in Mississauga.

Heartland Creditview Community and Health Services, a Peel-based not-for-profit community organization, hosted the one-day event at the Mississauga Valley Park on Civic Holiday.

“We want to bring everyone on one stage and showcase Canada’s real multiculturalism,” said Prithpal S. Chagger, president of Heartland Creditview Community and Health Services. “It (the festival) is about love, harmony and unity. We celebrate those who are born Canadians.”

The purpose behind this event was to recognize all Canadians who’ve contributed their time and talents to make a difference in their communities.

The festival featured rock, pop and classic music to a variety of dances including Brazilian samba, Bollywood, Indian classic, Punjabi bhangra and traditional Chinese dance. There were food stalls that reflected the diversity. – CINEWS
