Mississauga to get its own DriveTest Centre

For years Mississauga residents have had to go to Brampton or elsewhere to give their driving tests, now however they have one more option closer to home. The province recently announced the location of a new Mississauga DriveTest Centre which is expected to be operational in August.

The centre will be located at 255 Longside Dr. in the Derry Road and Hurontario Street area.

It is expected to reduce the pressure on the over-burdened Brampton location as well as establish a long-awaited test location in Mississauga.

The new DriveTest Centre is projected to serve about 300,000 customers and help reduce wait-times at up to seven nearby centres throughout the western GTA.

Recent service enhancements to 13 high-demand DriveTest Centres include longer hours and more staff at several locations, including the Brampton office.

Brampton’s DriveTest Centre reportedly serves about 85,000 people a year, a significant number of them Mississauga residents.

The ministry announced plans for the new centre last December and revealed the goal is to serve 90 per cent of drive test customers within 20 minutes, but that wait-time is not being met for many customers.

However, few would expect to be served within 20 minutes at any DriveTest centre. And in Peel Region this is simply impossible given the sheer volume of people. – CINEWS
