For years many bus users have been asking for an express bus service along Derry Road given that it is a very busy corridor that connects with clusters of businesses as one goes east. MiWay this week announced an express bus service on Derry Road starting April 30.
Going forward the plan is to have a weekday express route along Derry Road, between Meadowvale Town Centre and Westwood Square which will be called “Route 104 — Derry Express.” It will operate from Monday to Friday during morning and afternoon rush hours and will only stop at major intersections.
The change is part of the MiWay Five service plan, which is moving the city’s transit service to a grid network to enable frequent bus service along the city’s main corridors.
New service improvements include additional trips for the 1 Dundas, 13 Glen Erin and 28 Burnamthorpe routes.
Improved GO service connections and updated schedules will also be rolled out on the 19 Hurontario and 64 Meadowvale GO routes.
There will also be a few changes for the better coming to seasonal service on Route 66 McLaughlin, 101/101A Dundas Express, 107 Malton Express and 110 University Express. -CINEWS
