The flood of accusations of distorting history has not yet receded in case of Mohenjo Daro,

The latest dignitary to point an accusing finger at director Ashutosh Gowariker is Sindh Minister for Culture, Tourism and Antiquities Sardar Ali Shah.

He has asked the director  an apology for distorting facts. Shah said that this film has made a mockery of highly developed culture of the 5000-year-old civilization, reports a popular Pakistani daily.

He said that he would soon communicate Sindh’s reaction and objections to “the director concerned.”

According to Shah, the movie depicted nothing but a figment of imagination of filmmakers and had nothing to do with the history of Mohenjo-Daro.

He added that the world had widely acknowledged the importance of the heritage sites of Sindh, which was evident from the fact that Makli necropolis and Mohenjo-Daro had been included in the list of international heritage sites and UNESCO was caring for them in coordination with the government.

He said the movie depicted what it named Harappa War and recovery of levy which were nothing but figments of imagination of filmmakers and had nothing to do with history of Mohenjo Daro.

Mohenjo Daro failed to work at the box office despite entering the Rs 100-crore club in worldwide box office.

The film was made at a budget of Rs 100 crore with Rs 15 crore spent on promotions. The fact that it clashed with Akshay Kumar’s Rustom — a film which has gone on to make a huge profit at the domestic box office — also had an impact on expectations from Mohenjo Daro. – CINEWS
