Mohenjo Daro continued its dismal box office performance to another day. Hrithik Roshan starer appeared to pick up some steam on Sunday but failed to build upon it on Monday, which was a holiday on account of Independence Day.
A trade analyst tweeted, “Mohenjo Daro did not get the required boost on Independence Day… Although the 4-day total is decent, it should’ve been much higher. Fri 8.87 cr, Sat 9.60 cr, Sun 12.07 cr, Mon 10.36 cr. Total: ₹ 40.90 cr. India biz.”
Directed by Ashutosh Gowariker, the period drama has earned Rs 40.9 crore in four days at the BO, primarily due to its strong showing on Sunday. The film has already earned Rs 60 crore from the sale of satellite rights to Star TV and the music rights to T-Series. It released on August 12 and did good business in the Middle East too.
The Akshay Kumar film has made Rs 50 crore in the first three days and is speculated to enter the Rs 100-crore mark like Akshay’s other releases this year, Airlift and Housefull 3.
Mohenjo Daro is still lagging behind. The film marks the debut of Pooja Hegde and is produced by Siddharth Roy Kapur and Sunita Gowariker.
The film brings an epic adventure-romance story on the silver screen. It is set in the city of Mohenjo Daro in the era of the Indus Valley civilisation which dates back to 2,600 BC. The film written, produced and directed by Gowariker, is Hrithik’s second collaboration with the filmmaker after the 2008 film, Jodhaa Akbar. – CINEWS
