Motorcyclist dies in Oakville crash

A motorcycle that spun out on the roadway – at the intersection of The Canadian Road and Royal Windsor Drive in Oakville on Friday, resulted in the death of a young man, Halton Police said.

The police were called at around 4:23 am  Members of the Ford Motor Company fire/medical response team, as well as Oakville Fire, Halton EMS and Halton Regional Police responded to the scene.  After locating and treating the male rider, it became apparent that vital signs were absent and he was pronounced deceased on scene.  Due to the nature of the collision, the Collision Reconstruction Unit attended the scene and assumed responsibility for the investigation.

A scene examination took place and preliminary information suggests the rider struck the curb on the west side of the road, while travelling in a southbound direction.  He was then thrown from the motorcycle coming to rest on the boulevard on the west side of the road.  The blue Honda motorcycle toppled over after striking the curb and slid on its side before coming to rest on the west side of the road as well.

Several witnesses have been identified and provided statements to police.  If you witnessed the collision and haven’t spoken to police, please contact (905) 825-4747 ext. 5065.  The rider’s identity will not be released; however he is a Halton resident in his twenties. – CINEWS
