Margao (Goa), Nov 26 (IANS) FC Goa midfielder Leonardo da Silva Moura has pocketed the DHL winning pass award for the most number of assists provided for his side in the second season of Indian Super League (ISL).
The Brazilian got behind six of his team’s 21 goals, including the assist for the equaliser scored by Reinaldo in their 1-1 draw against NorthEast United FC on Wednesday evening.
Playing as a midfielder under Zico with a profile that of a right back doesn’t cause an unknown challenge for Moura.
“I used to play in the midfield when I was a teenager in the junior teams. Now as I have the opportunity to play as a midfielder again, I am adapting day by day and game by game to help the team,” Moura said on Thursday.
The Goan side have played their second game in four days after which they take on Kerala Blasters FC in the coming weekend. However, the frequency of matches is nothing new for Moura.
“In Brazil too we used to play twice a week. The most important thing is that I take care of myself and follow the instructions of my trainers. I don’t want to be out of any game. So I have to be ready to play every game,” he added.
The 37-year-old claimed that he is ready to listen to offers from I-League clubs as well.
“Now my focus is only on FC Goa. I want to be in the final of the ISL in December and want to become champion. After the tournament, I am going to decide what I’m going to do. But of course, if I receive an invitation to come to India, it will be a pleasure,” he said.
