London, Jan.24 (ANI): Jorge Mendes, the agent of former Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho, has blasted reports claiming that the Portuguese had sent Manchester United a letter to express his desire to become the club’s next manager, describing it as `ridiculous and absurd`.
According to reports, the 52-year-old had sent a six-page letter, explaining why he was a suitable match to replace current manager Louis van Gaal.
Declining the reports, Mendes said that it could not be possible that a coach like Mourinho could write a letter to clubs offering his service, the Guardian reported.
Van Gaal’s job has been under scrutiny in the recent times due to United’s repeated poor performances in the Premier League, including his side’s latest 0-1 defeat to Southampton.
United are currently fifth in the league table and are 10 points behind surprise pace setters Leicester City. They will next lock horns with Stock City on February 3. (ANI)
