Kohima, Mar. 25 (ANI): The Tool-Room and Training Centre in Nagaland has flourished since its inception and provided good education and employment opportunities to the youth of the north-east.
The Nagaland Tool-Room and Training Centre (NTCC) was established in 2006 by the Nagaland Government with the Centre’s assistance.
Tool-Room is the industrial set-up where specialized tools, dyes, moulds, jigs and more are designed and manufactured.
The objective of NTCC is not only to provide good education, but also to ensure more and better employment opportunities for the youth.
Various activities are conducted to develop good presentation skills and personality in the students, and ultimately to groom them for placement in top industries and brands.
Presently, around 300 students has been undergoing training in NTTC.
“It’s a very good institution where students not only learn theoretically but they also learn practically. They know how to develop their skills not only theoretically but also practically. We have heard a lot about the machines and seen many machines but until and unless we work on it we tend to forget,” said Awalo Keppen, a student at NTCC.
“I am in fourth semester and I should say this institute is a very important place for me to learn (about) machines as well as theory classes,” added another student Rokuovitou Kutzo.
Recently, Union Minister of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises Kalraj Mishra visited the training centre to encourage the good work undertaken by the NTTC.
“The machines are very much useful not only for employment generation but for entrepreneurship too. The engineers had done a lot. I can say that they also produce electricity from here. Innovative ideas have already been practised here. I came across a machine, which is already seen in China but the similar version of the model is invented into a lighter and more useful machine here in NTTC,” Mishra said.
The training centre has sections for jig grinding, injection moulding machines, heat treatment units, drilling machines, surface grinding, cylindrical grinding, lathe machines, milling machines, welding machines and more conventional shop floor machines.
The institute also provides different courses and campus interviews from various companies are arranged every year.
“This institution is the first one that is established in state of Nagaland as ‘Nagaland tool room centre’. Here, we have two types of courses – long-time courses called ‘DDTM’. Another course is called the short-term course. Now, there is one course which is going on called ‘Toners’ .They are serving lots of courses like ‘Filter ‘Machine Operator’, ‘CNC Operator’ and ‘Desktop Publishing’ courses,” said Surenkyong, CAD CAM designer and lecturer at NTTC.
The Tool-Room Centre is not only serving as a means to employment opportunities for the youth but has been doing much to boost up technical training and education for students in the region. (ANI)
