New Delhi, Dec. 10 (ANI): Reacting on the Ruling BJP’s offer to have a discussion on the national Herald case in Parliament, Congress leader and deputy leader of opposition in the Rajya Sabha Anand Sharma on Thursday said the issue is sub judice, and would be tackled in the court of law.
“We are raising a larger issue of blatant misuse of the organs and agencies of the state to victimise, prosecute and target the political opposition of the present government,” he said.
If they want a discussion, and if they are sincere about it, said Sharma, why they have not taken any action or cognisance of three serious charges levelled against their chief ministers in Vyapam, money laundering and Lalitgate; since July there has been no action.
“As far as the present case is concerned, he said: “It’s a well-known fact that a complaint was made to the Enforcement Directorate, which looked into that. Because, it has no locus standi and there was no merit in the complaint, it was not an ED’s case, and as a result of that the EED closed the case. But, that ED was moved out and another person was appointed, and the case (Associated journal and National Herald) that was brought to the closure, was re-opened.
“So, what do we say to that a political vendetta. Is that done by a court of law under any court order? It was actually to mislead the court also that there is a pending inquiry and that what we have objected to that there is a shielding of their guilty and vendetta against their political opponents,” he added.
This exposes the hypocrisy of the BJP, their double-standard and their double-speak, said Sharma, adding that they have one set of rules for their opponents and one set of rules for their leaders. (ANI)
