Nepal: Flight operations resumes following bomb hoax

Kathmandu, Mar. 27 (ANI): The Tribhuvan International Airport resumed its operation this afternoon after a bomb scare caused panic among the people.

Several other flights were also affected because of the same this afternoon.

It has been learnt that an unidentified caller claimed that the Jet Airways aircraft, which arrived from New Delhi at around 4:30 p.m. had explosives planted in it.

The security personnel, including Nepal Army’s bomb disposal, carried out an extensive search of the Jet Airways Flight 93 260 coming from New Delhi, reports The Himalayan Times.

With 161 passengers and seven crew members on board, the aircraft landed in Kathmandu down at 4:35 p.m.

Following the security alert, the passengers were evacuated and the Indian aircraft was taken to an isolation bay for a thorough search.

The Jet Airways later issued a statement and expressed regret for the inconvenience caused to the guests on board.

“The safety and security of our guests and crew is always our main priority,” said a spokesperson of Jet Airways.

The domestic and international flights resumed after the security agencies gave clearance to the TIA. (ANI)
