New elephant film inspired by Haathi Mere Saathi: Sippy

Vidyut Jamwal…Film is about friendship between man and animal.

Vidyut Jamwal, who has always been synonymous with action thriller films (Commando, Force etc…), will now be seen in yet another film of the same genre.

The film in question is director Rohan Sippy’s action thriller Junglee, which is being produced by Junglee Pictures.  Junglee, which is all set to roll early next year, is a film that will mirror a unique friendship between man and an animal.

Vidyut Jamwal will be seen in the role of an animal loving vet, who is on a look out to uncover a deadly poaching racket, something which was responsible for his father’s death.

Rohan Sippy said that the idea of Junglee came to him after seeing the late Rajesh Khanna’s hit film Haathi Mere Saathi.

Even though Rohan Sippy is planning to shoot the film with an actual elephant, technology will definitely play an all-important role in the film.

Meanwhile, Junglee Pictures’ Priti Shahani said that Rohan Sippy had come to them with the concept early this year. She added that Junglee was a story that had a strong emotional chord and was relevant in today’s situations where wild life is endangered. She also added that Junglee was a story that would connect across all age groups.

At first, CINEWS wondered whether it is going to be a remake of Shammi Kapoor starrer Junglee (remember the original Yahoo Man before the search engine borrowed the name?)

But no, Rohan Sippy says he has been inspired by Shammi Kapoor contemporary Rajesh Khanna’s Haathi Mere Saathi. (Remember Chal Chal Chal Mere Saathi where a peeved Tanuju watches Bollywood’s original superstar’s flirty elephant-back antics from a broken car pulled by jumbos!)

These beasts also can act! – CINEWS
