Nitish questions PM’s silence on Dalit killings in Haryana

New Delhi, Oct.24 (ANI): Questioning Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s silence on recent Dalit killings in Haryana, Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar on Saturday said it was preposterous to see him invoking Mahatma Gandhi’s ideals.

“Over 100 hours, Modi ji hasn’t uttered a word on Dalit killings in Haryana, yet him invoking Gandhiji’s ideals is preposterous,” tweeted Nitish.

Haryana has been in the news over the recent killings of Dalits. In Gohana in Haryana’s Sonipat District and 90 kilometres south-east of New Delhi, a 15-year-old Dalit boy was beaten up by police and died in custody after being accused of stealing a pigeon.

In the second incident, two children succumbed to burn injuries after a house was set on fire allegedly by members of the Rajput community in Ballabhgarh, Haryana on October 20.

The deceased Vaibhav (2 years) and Divya (10 months) died before reaching the Safdarjung Hospital in Delhi. (ANI)
