New Delhi, July 13 (ANI): The Congress party on Monday said that there has been ‘no breakthrough’ during the talks between Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his Pakistani counterpart Nawaz Sharif at Ufa in Russia last week, adding that situation at the ground level is still the same.
“It is a new development or a surprise development for all those who thought that some breakthrough had been achieved. We have always said that no breakthrough has been achieved. The situation is same at the ground level. So what has come out is not surprising because we never felt that a breakthrough has been achieved, contrary to what BJP has been claiming. What Sartaj has said is for BJP to reply, it was BJP which claimed breakthrough, we have always said that there is no new development,” Congress leader Ajay Maken told media persons.
According to reports, Pakistani Prime Minister’s Advisor on Foreign Affairs Sartaj Aziz had said that no dialogue process will take place with India unless Kashmir issue was discussed first.
A joint media statement released after the meeting between Prime Minister Modi and Nawaz Sharif in Russia on Friday outlined that both sides had decided to expedite the 26/11 Mumbai attacks trial, including additional information like providing voice samples.
The joint statement also said that both sides had agreed to hold a meeting in New Delhi between the two National Security Advisors to discuss all issues connected to terrorism. (ANI)
