Dhaka, Oct. 16 (ANI): Dhaka Metropolitan Police Commissioner Asaduzzaman Mia stated that there is ‘not even the slightest’ militant link in the murder of Italian aid worker Cesare Tavella.
While addressing the media, Mia said that evidence and information received by the police does not suggest any militant link, The Daily Star reported.
Local and international plotters are involved in the murder, he added.
He also said that the police have achieved some success in the case and arrest of the killers is expected soon.
Cesare Tavella, a project manager of the Netherlands-based NGO ICCO Cooperation Bangladesh, was shot dead on September 28, by three unidentified criminals in the diplomatic area in Gulshan.
ISIS, after the murder, had taken responsibility of the murder through a social media post.
However both the Bangladeshi Government and the law enforcement have denied any link to ISIS in the killing.
Bangladeshi Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina in various occasions has blamed Bangladesh National Party chief Khaleda Zia and Jamaat-e-Islami for conspiring against the government through killings of foreign national. (ANI)
