New Delhi, Dec.31 (ANI): After search giant Google, Yahoo and social networking sites Facebook and Twitter, it is software giant Microsoft’s turn to promise to alert Email users if they think their accounts have been attacked by hackers working on behalf of governments(state-sponsored actors).
According to Reuters, Microsoft Corp has said that it will begin warning users of its Outlook.com email service when the company suspects that a government has been trying to hack into their accounts.
“As the threat landscape has evolved our approach has too, and we’ll now go beyond notification and guidance to specify if we reasonably believe the attacker is ‘state-sponsored,” Microsoft said in a statement.
The software giant announces the change after a similar move was announced by Yahoo recently.
Facebook and Twitter had made a similar announcement in October, December respectively. However, search giant Google had pioneered the practise in 2012 and now alerts tens of thousands of users every few months.(ANI)
