Obama’s presidency reborn as his worst week ends

Virginia, June 29 (ANI): United States President Barack Obama’s presidency has been reborn after the worst week that saw the spectre of his signature healthcare bill unravelling in the Supreme Court, the defeat of his big trade agenda in the Pacific and the Atlantic and a country struggling with racial tensions after the Charleston massacre.

Senior White House reporter, Edward-Isaac Dovere, said in his opinion piece published in Politico, “Obama finished the week in Charleston singing, really singing, and returned to a White House lit up like a rainbow that people who wanted to celebrate just felt drawn to.”

Obama sang “Amazing Grace” at the funeral of slain Charleston Church Pastor Clementa Pinckney on Sunday.

The U.S. Supreme Court on Friday declared gay marriage legal across the country, a day after a key provision of Obamacare was upheld in the court.

FT magazine quoted its former DC Bureau Chief Edward Luce as saying that, “there could be no better illustration of America’s dramatic week than the White House lit up in rainbow colours as the confederate flag was lowered in the south”.

Luce said that Obama’s eulogy “drew on the revivalist oratory of black church tradition to shame the culture of hatred that led to the massacre”. (ANI)
