Old woman just arrived from China, goes missing in Markham

York Regional Police is seeking public assistance to help locate a missing 78-year-old woman from the City of Markham. She arrived in Canada only three days ago.

On Friday, May 20, 2016, between 6 and 7 a.m., Hong Wang from the City of Markham, left her residence which is located on Miles Farm Road in the area of Steeles Avenue East and Mccowan Road.  She moved to Markham from China three days ago and is not familiar with the area. Police and her family are concerned for her well-being.


  • Female, Asian
  • 78 years
  • 5’ 3”, slim build
  • Short grey curly hair
  • Wearing a dark green sweater, black pants, blue and white flowered slippers
  • No teeth, not wearing her dentures
  • Speaks Mandarin only
