When Bollywood actor Salman Khan was appointed as the Indian Olympic Association’s (IOA) goodwill ambassador for the Rio Olympics, sportspersons were against the nomination. The appoint
ment was seen as a suggestion that a Bollywood face is required to glorify sports.
Many from the sports fraternity spoke against the nomination including sprinter Milkha Singh and wrestler Yogeshwar Dutt. After the dust has settled over the controversy, Khan has now proved that choosing him as the Goodwill Ambassador was not really a smart choice after all.
Dipti or Deepika? Salman Khan — goodwill ambassador for the Rio Olympics — couldn’t remember the name of Dipa Karmakar who qualified for the vault event at Rio Olympics.
The 50-year-old actor later said “I thought… it was… was it Deepika? I thought she was going to win gold but she came eighth, no?” the actor said while launching the trailer of his brother Sohail’s new film Freaky Ali.
May be it is the slip of the tongue as the actor is used to saying Deepika Padukone’s name frequently!
Since of late the actor has done such blunders. Weeks before the movie Sultan was released in July, he said at a press meet that filming the wrestling scenes left him feeling ‘like a raped woman.’
He failed to apologise for the remark despite several summons from the National Commission of Women. – CINEWS
