ORLANDO, Fla.— Adventist University of Health Sciences (ADU) announces a presentation by Dr. James Appel, the second event in its 2016 – 2017 Colloquium Series on “Faith and Loss”. The event takes place on Tuesday, October 18th, 2016 at 7:00 p.m. at the Florida Hospital Church.
From his work in the Ebola crisis to being the only physician in a district hospital in the Republic of Chad, Dr.James Appel shares his story of withstanding hardship and loss. Facing death and cultural barriers on a daily basis, he and his wife are also touched by personal tragedy. Living and working under these difficult conditions, Dr. Appel shares how he found the strength to prevail through the power of faith.

James Appel, MD
Dr. James Appel was born in Ohio. Growing up as the son of a Seventh-day Adventist pastor, he received his B.A. in Theology from Southern Adventist University and later a Doctor of Medicine from Loma Linda University.
Upon completion of his Residency at the Ventura County Medical Center in California, James moved to theRepublic of Chad where he worked as the only doctor in the Béré Adventist Hospital for seven years. During that time, he met his wife, Sarah, a volunteer nurse from Denmark. Currently, he is Chad’s Country Director for the NGO Adventist Health International, which oversees over 20 hospitals in Africa and the rest of the developing world.
