Ontario to expand use of mobile crisis teams to assist first responders

In a move likely to be welcomed by stakeholders, Ontario is planning to expand the use of mobile crisis intervention teams that help first responders, and increase mental health supports in schools.

This week Health Minister Christine Elliott referenced an investment of $174 million for community mental health and addictions services, mental health and justice services, supportive housing, and acute mental health inpatient beds.

The idea is to integrate, wrap-around mental health services, so people don’t have to find themselves in a crisis before they can access services.

This move could very well save lives. -CINEWS
