With the summer driving season now underway, the OPP is warning of another danger- collisions with wildlife.

A shocking photo posted by Sgt. Kerry Schmidt shows the aftermath of a crash with a moose in northern Ontario on Saturday night.

Fortunately, the driver of the vehicle in the crash only suffered minor injuries.

Schmidt says if you are driving around the province at night, to keep your eyes on the road and be prepared.

Many animals like deer tend to stray on roadways around dusk and as one drives out into the Ontario countryside, one could end up encountering a startled deer or moose in the middle of the road. Such collisions can be life-altering or fatal. -CINEWS
