Pacquiao says he is `OK` without rematch against Mayweather

Johannesburg,Sept.18 (ANI): Filipino boxer Manny Pacquiao has said that he is “Ok” even if he doesn’t get a chance of a rematch against his fierce rival Floyd Mayweather, who has declared his retirement, adding that he will take on any other contender in his next fight.

Pacquiao had earlier demanded punishment and a rematch against Mayweather, who was alleged of breaching drug testing rules on the eve of their mega-fight four months ago in Las Vegas.

Mayweather was accused of receiving an intravenous injection of saline and vitamins that was banned under World Anti-Doping Agency guidelines.

The eight-division world champion further admitted that boxing is not his focus right now as he is giving rest to his shoulder, Sport24 reported.

Pacquiao said that he was waiting to see whether Maywether will be sanctioned by U.S. boxing authorities for taking an IV drip after the weigh-in for their fight in Las Vegas.

Meanwhile, Mayweather, who defeated Pacquiao on a unanimous decision to extend his unbeaten streak to 48-0, had denied all the allegations leveled against him and described himself as a ‘clean athlete’.

Mayweather said in a statement that he has always followed the rules of Nevada and United States Anti-Doping Agency (USADA).

The American boxer had declared his retirement after he equalled former world heavyweight champion Rocky Marciano’s record of 49 straight wins by beating challenger Andre Berto in Las Vegas on Saturday.(ANI)
