Pak SC says call for blasphemy law improvement should not be objected

Karachi, Oct 28 (ANI): Pakistan’s Supreme Court has said that the call for improvement in the country’s blasphemy law in order to protect its misuse in leveling false accusations should not be considered objectionable.

According to the Dawn, the apex court said in a detailed judgment in the murder case of Salman Taseer that the call for improvement in the blasphemy law should not be misunderstood with doing away with the law.

It also said that it should not be mistaken as a call for introducing adequate safeguards against malicious application or use of that law by motivated persons.

Authored by Justice Khosa, the 39-page judgment said that blasphemy was abhorrent and immoral, besides being a manifestation of intolerance, but a false allegation is equally detestable as well as culpable. (ANI)
