Karachi, Sept. 27 (ANI): Pakistan and Afghanistan are the only countries left where polio remains endemic as Nigeria and Africa are closer to being certified polio-free, said the World Health Organization (WHO).
According to the Dawn, the WHO said that as long as polio existed, it was a threat to children everywhere.
Polio which can cause life-long paralysis can be prevented with a simple vaccination.
Tunji Funsho, chairman of Rotary International’s anti-polio campaign in Nigeria, said that it was a great moment for Nigeria.
He attributed the success to teamwork between government and non-governmental health organisations. (ANI)
