Jind, Feb. 21 (ANI): ‘No father can be prouder’, said 10 Para Army Captain Pawan Kumar’s father Rajbir Singh on Sunday, as his son was martyred today morning in the ongoing encounter in Pampore, Jammu and Kashmir.
“I had one child, I gave him to the Army and to the nation. No father can be prouder,” Singh said.
Twenty-two-year-old Kumar succumbed to his injuries today after he led a troop that stormed the EDI Complex last night, in which two to three militants are believed to be holed up.
The captain, who hails from Jind, Haryana, is from 10 Parachute Regiment and has been part of two successful operations in which three terrorists were killed.
At least three Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) jawans, one Army Captain and a civilian died as the death toll in the encounter in Pampore reached five on Sunday.
An Army paramilitary captain identified as Pawan Kumar was killed in the ongoing encounter with militants.
The CRPF, local police and the Army have been engaging with the terrorists since last evening in which two CRPF jawans were martyred and 11 personnel were injured.
Driver/Constable R.K.Raina and Head Constable Bhola Prasad Singh have been martyred in the attack.
Among those injured are Constable Rakesh Kumar, Constable Kanhaiya, Constable Sanjeev Kamania, Head Constable Muneem, Constable Thakur, Constable Raju Thakur, Constable Baruna Thakur, Constable J.Negi and Parma Thakur. (ANI)
