Parliament approval sought for Rs 11,166 crore additional spending

New Delhi, July 26 (IANS) Finance Minister Arun Jaitley on Wednesday tabled the first batch of Supplementary Demand for Grants for 2017-18, seeking approval of additional expenditure of Rs 11,166 crore, including net cash outgo of Rs 10,648 crore towards various heads.

The supplementary demands for grants for 2017-18 include 61 grants and three appropriations.

“Approval of Parliament is sought to authorise gross additional expenditure of Rs 11,166.18 crore,” it said.

“Of this, the proposals involving net cash outgo aggregate to Rs 10,647.45 crore and gross additional expenditure, matched by savings of the ministries/departments or by enhanced receipts/recoveries aggregate to Rs 517.72 crore,” it added.

Of the additional expenditure of Rs. 11,166 crore, a sum of Rs 7,000 crore will go to the Petroleum Ministry towards additional grants-in-aid for payment of differential royalty to state governments.

An amount of Rs 387 crore has been sought for spending on activities related to the Goods and Services Tax (GST) that has been implemented from July 1.

Of this Rs 387 crore, Rs 250 crore would be used for effective publicity for GST awareness and Rs 99 crore for DG systems as payment towards advance user charges of GST Network (GSTN). Besides, an amount of Rs 37 crore would be spent for the accounting portal for GST.
