Peel police officer receives award for selfless service

Peel Regional officer Manjit Basran who has been helping feed the homeless across the GTA, on his own time, was awarded this year’s Police Services Award for Community Support.

The award was presented to him by the Brampton Board of Trade this week.

Basran has been a Peel police officer since 2005, working as a community station officer, a patrol officer and in the recruiting bureau.

Basran has been a volunteer with the Sikh Sewa Society, which operates a catering truck providing hot meals to the homeless across the GTA. The Guru Nanak’s Langar, Goodby Hunger truck moves around the GTA supplying free meals to anyone in need. – CINEWS
