The Region of Peel offers an exemption period each year which allows residents to put out unlimited amounts of acceptable garbage at the curb.
Previous this happened in May, but this year the exemption period runs for two weeks, from June 17 to 21 and June 24-28.
According to media reports, this change became necessary as residents put out large quantities of yard waste around the Victoria Day holiday which resulted in collection delays.
Meanwhile residents should start decluttering their homes, collect things that can be donated to a local thrift store and purge away waste.
This change will now make such delays less likely going forward. For more information about Region of Peel recycling programs, visit www.peelregion.ca/waste. -CINEWS
