New York, Sept. 25 (ANI): Prime Minister Narendra Modi has assured the Prime Minister of Saint Vincent and the Grenadines Ralph Gonsalves of assisting the country with capacity building.
“The next round of IGN is expected to begin in November. Prime Minister thanked him for that. There was also discussion on bilateral relationship. The Prime Minister of Saint Vincent and Grenadines expressed his happiness at the assistance that India had provided. Prime Minister said we are prepared to further assist the country in capacity building,” MEA spokesperson Vikas Swaroop briefed the media here.
“The Prime Minister thanked Ralph Gonsalves for the leadership he had shown at the time of the text-based negotiations issue which came up in the IGN. As a result of the initiative taken by countries like Saint Vincent, we were able to get a UNG decision on having text-based negotiations in the IGN,” he added.
He further said that Prime Minister Modi has invited Saint Vincent and the Grenadines’s Prime Minister to visit India.
Prime Minister Modi met his counterpart Ralph Gonsalves of Saint Vincent and the Grenadines yesterday.
India and Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, enjoy close and cordial relations at many international fora.
Under the Indian Technical and Economic Cooperation Programme (ITEC) Programme, 10 scholarships have been allotted for 2015-16. (ANI)
