Jammu, Dec.27 (ANI): Union Minister of State in the Prime Minister’s Office (MoS PMO) Jitendra Singh on Sunday said Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s surprise visit to Lahore to meet his Pakistani counterpart Nawaz Sharif is a positive step forward as it has created a ground for further talks between the two neighbouring nations.
“Definitely this is a positive step forward and one thing leads to other. Somehow the meeting ground has been created. This has been welcomed by in large,” Singh told the media here.
“If we discuss anything in public today it might affect the very initiative itself, so it will not be in the interest of anyone itself. Some spokesperson from the Opposition said that Prime Minister visited Pakistan without any preparation. I told him how do you know he went without preparation. If everything is made public than definitely, it will affect talks,” he added.
Prime Minister Modi’s visit to Lahore and talks with Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif has put a seal on a series of engagements that will begin with a meeting between Foreign Secretaries S. Jaishankar and Aizaz Chaudhury around January 15-17 in Islamabad.
