PM Modi reaches out to opposition, hopes Monsoon Session turns out to be fruitful

New Delhi, July 21 (ANI): Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday appealed to the opposition parties to ensure smooth functioning of the Parliament during the Monsoon Session and added that the parties have ensured cooperation on their behalf.

“We want to ensure smooth functioning of the Monsoon Session. Yesterday, the all-party meet was fruitful; we want everyone to work together in this session. I have appealed the opposition parties regarding the same and they have assured us of cooperation. I hope that this session turns out to be fruitful,” the Prime Minister said while addressing the media.

The Monsoon Session of Parliament is expected to be a stormy affair with the opposition set to take on the BJP-led NDA Government over the Lalit Modi row and the Vyapam scam.

Union HRD Minister Smriti Irani is also expected to be in the spotlight due to the controversy over her educational qualifications.

Yesterday, an all-party meeting was called by Lok Sabha Speaker Sumitra Mahajan to ensure smooth proceedings of both the Houses. (ANI)
