Police reminding home owners to keep doors and windows locked

The Toronto Police Service is reminding citizens and home owners to be mindful when at home. With the summer months approaching, residents tend to keep their windows and doors open and unlocked.

Even when home or outside doing yard work, lock your doors and windows and any other means of access to your residence.

Most thieves look to steal small, expensive, easy-to-carry-and-conceal items such as cash, wallets, purses, credit cards, identification, jewelry and electronic equipment.

Remember to take steps to safeguard these items. Conceal them in a safe place.

Anyone who sees someone or something suspicious on, or around, their property, is encouraged to call 9-1-1 immediately.  Anyone with information is asked to contact police at 416-808-1400, Crime Stoppers anonymously at 416-222-TIPS (8477), online at www.222tips.com, text TOR and your message to CRIMES (274637).
