Porous Indo-Banladesh border to be sealed by 2016, says Rajnath

Karimganj (Assam), Jan. 3 (ANI): Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh on Sunday said the porous Indo-Bangladesh border in Assam would be sealed by the year (2016).

The Home Minister visited the Karimganj sector of the India-Bangladesh border in Assam, and expressed satisfaction with the ongoing border fencing work there.

Talking to mediapersons, the Home Minister said the border issue with Bangladesh would be solved soon.

BSF officials also briefed the minister regarding the security situation.

He is on a two-day visit to the state.

The minister also inspected the Steamer Ghat Border Outposts (BOP) in the district.

Singh was accompanied by Union Minister of State for Sports and Youth Affairs Sarbananda Sonowal, and a delegation of All Assam Students’ Union (AASU) during the visit to the border.

Rajnath will inspect the Sonahat border outpost in Dhubri and take part in a sainik sammellan on Monday. (ANI)
