Princess Diana’s iconic Versace dress claimed for $200K at auction

Washington DC, 3 July (ANI): Princess Diana’s Iconic Atelier Versace Dress has been claimed for 200,000 dollars at an auction.

The elegant icy blue figure-hugging design, embellished with gold-tone studs, was up for bidding at Julien’s Auctions with a starting price of 30,000 dollars, and since the final estimated bid was about 80,000 dollars, the closing bid money came as a major surprise.

The Duke of Cambridge’s late mother had first worn the dress for a 1991 photo shoot with photographer Patrick Demarchelier, however, it was used on the cover of Harper’s Bazaar in 1997 after the her tragic death, People magazine reported.

The gown is believed to be the first Gianni Versace (Donatella’s brother and founder of the label) had designed for the royal beauty. (ANI)
