Prison riot breaks out at Varanasi’s District Jail

Varanasi (Uttar Pradesh), April. 2 (ANI): A major riot broke out at Varanasi’s District Jail today between inmates and police forces.

The inmates were seen pelting stones at officials, who were trying their best to contain the chaos in the prison. Sounds of gunshots being fired was also heard from the scene.

According to reports, the Deputy Jailer, Ajay Kumar Rai, was injured in the melee. Additional forces have been rushed to the prison to bring the situation under control.
