Protestors, police clash over trucker’s death

Anantnag, Oct.19 (ANI): Clashes broke out between protesters and the security forces in south Kashmir’s Anantnag district against the killing of a Kashmiri trucker by a mob in Udhampur area of Jammu region on Monday.

Truck conductor Zahid Rasool Bhat succumbed to injuries sustained during a petrol bomb attack on a truck with two more Kashmiris by a mob in Udhampur on Oct 9.

After Zahid’s funeral prayers, angry protesters hurled rocks at police and paramilitary Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) who responded with tear and pepper gas canisters.

Restrictions are placed in various areas of the district with police and CRPF men deployed in strength to contain anti-India protests.(ANI)
