MONTREAL, – Desjardins Group and its partners have announce the 12 finalists for the VIVA MTL contest, an initiative of the Je fais MTL citizen movement. The VIVA MTL contest showcases the very best of Montreal, giving residents the opportunity to nominate citizens in their neighbourhood actively committed to increasing local pride.
Many activities were held across Montreal throughout the contest period, which ran from January 28 to September 6. Interest in the initiative was strong, as more than 450 nominations were made in 4 categories: Citizen, Entrepreneur, Young leader and Organization. The winners’ names will be revealed at the opening ceremonies of Montreal’s 375th anniversary in 2017.
“We knew Montrealers were proud of their city, but now we’ve got proof!” beamed Martin Brunelle, Head of Desjardins Group’s Strategy and Innovation Office. “Cities really benefit when their residents are committed to making a real difference within their community. When we launched the VIVA MTL contest, none of us could ever have imagined how this show of pride would leave such a vibrant legacy for future generations.”
