Brampton MPs encouraged their constituents to offer input on the services Canada Post should offer in the future and advice about how the Crown corporation can operate as a self-sustaining business.
To achieve this Brampton’s Liberal MPs co-hosted a public consultation on Aug. 18 from 7:30-8:30 p.m. at Gore Meadows Community Centre.
It may be recalled that a federal review was launched last May. A four-person task force has been gathering information and is scheduled to produce a discussion paper in September.
That discussion paper will form the basis for consultations with the public this coming fall.
A parliamentary committee is expected to table a report in December, followed by a government decision in the spring of 2017.
All this is supposed to result in better service from this much-valued Crown Corporation and at an affordable price.
Canada Post has like postal services across North America been trying to re-invent itself in the internet-age.
