Rahul Gandhi condoles demise of ‘committed democrat’ Koirala

New Delhi, Feb. 9 (ANI): Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi on Tuesday condoled the demise of Nepal’s former prime minister Sushil Koirala, saying his loss would be ‘deeply mourned’.

“My heartfelt condolences to the people of Nepal on the passing away of former PM & Nepali Congress President Shri Sushil Koiralaji,” Gandhi tweeted.

“A committed democrat Sushil Koiralaji had a long association with India. His loss will be deeply mourned,” he added.

Koirala, who was suffering from chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, passed away this morning. He was 76 years old.

Koirala served as Nepal’s 37th Prime Minister from February 2014 to October 2014.

He was the cousin of former prime ministers B.P. Koirala and Girija Prasad Koirala, and had taken part in the democratic movements in Nepal along with them. (ANI)
