New Delhi, Jan.27 (ANI): Congress vice president Rahul Gandhi will visit Bandlapalli village in Anantapur District on February 2 to commemorate 10 years of Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (MGNREGA), the flagship social sector scheme brought by the erstwhile UPA regime, to create a place in the heart of farm labourers and workers.

Gandhi confirmed the news on his official Twitter account saying, “Will visit Bandlapalli, Anantpur on 2nd Feb to commemorate 10yrs of MNREGA.”

“It was from this village that Prime Minister Manmohan Singhji and Congress President Sonia Gandhiji in 2006 had launched the historic MNREGA,” he added.

All India Congress Committee (AICC) would be organising the 10th anniversary of the launch of MGNREGA at the same place so that people recognise that it was the UPA government which had launched the programme for the benefit of farm and daily wage labourers. (ANI)
