New Delhi, Feb. 25 (ANI): Union Railway Minister Suresh Prabhu on Thursday announced the introduction of four new categories of trains while presenting the Railway Budget-2016 in the Lok Sabha on Thursday.
The new trains have been named Humsafar, Tejas, Uday (Double-deckers) and Antyodaya.
With Humsafar, Prabhu targets the middle class travellers. It will be an exclusively three-tiered AC train with optional meals.
With the introduction of Tejas, Prabhu aims to answer to the Bullet train query as Tejas can achieve speed ranging up to 130 km per hour with quality onboard facilities.
The Uday (Double-deckers) have been introduced with the intention of increasing passenger capacity upto in railway services on busy routes.
The trains will run overnight, along with connecting major cities across the country.
And for the economically backward, Prabhu offered the Antyodaya superfast trains, having only unreserved coaches, which would focus on transporting the common man in a time-bound manner without costing much. (ANI)
