Delhi-born actor Rajkummar Rao says that he misses his graduation days at the Delhi University. “It feels great when you come back to the city you were raised in,” says Rao, who is known for his roles in movies such as Queen (2013) and Kai Po Che (2013).
Born and brought up in Prem Nagar, Gurgaon and studied in Delhi University (DU), Rao reminisces his days in the city, saying, “My acting skills helped me make it to DU. Satya Niketan was our hangout place. But I focussed on my acting classes and didn’t chill much with my friends.”
The actor, who was a part of the dramatics. society of his college and practised theatre at Shri Ram Centre, shares, “Travelling from Delhi University to Gurgaon was a lot of struggle back then. I travelled in buses and used to ride my bicycle to DU and Mandi House for my theatre classes.”
He said he struggled after graduating from Film and Television Institute of India for one and a half years.
Rao, who has spent his formative years in Gurgaon, believes that the city has evolved. He adds, “Gurgaon is now a changed place. The old houses, old buildings and the playgrounds where we used to play are nowhere to be seen.” – CINEWS
