Tamil films Remo and Rekka rule Chennai box office despite competition from a score of new releases.

Both the films have dominated most of the cinema halls while other new release, Prabhudeva starrer Devi, too made a decent collection in its first weekend in Tamil Nadu.

In the first weekend, Remo earned Rs 1.71 crore with an average of 80 percent occupancy in most of the centres in three days.

Rekka has come a distant second by earning Rs 65.72 lakh. Although it is said to be an average opening for a Vijay Sethupathi film, it is expected to do well  in the days to come.

Devi is in the third position by raking in Rs 37.48 lakh. It is a good number for the movie, which does not have an A-list actor in the cast. All three new movies have got good  reviews and positive word of mouth.

It was released in Hindi and Tamil and earned Rs 2 crore in 10 days.  The income dropped to Rs 10.84 lakh in its second weekend due to three new Tamil releases.

Harshvadhan starrer Mirzya collected Rs 6.08 lakh in its first weekend.

Vijay Sethupathi’s other film Aandavan Kattalai has entered its third weekend and earned Rs 5.27  to take its total tally to Rs 2.40 crore.
