Kolkata, Dec. 27 (ANI): The Communist Party of India (Marxist) on Sunday called for “removal” of Trinamool Congress (TMC) and Prime Minister Narendra Modi in order to save West Bengal and the nation, respectively.
Speaking on the eve of the CPM’s four-day plenum in Kolkata, general secretary Sitaram Yechury said, “Communal forces are making full effort to spread poison in the country, so one brother fights with another.”
“Remove Trinamool to save Bengal, and Remove Narendra Modi to save India. Kolkata will show the way for alternative policies for the toiling masses of this country,” he added.
Yechury had earlier said the plenum would help formulate steps to streamline and strengthen the party in the changed context.
He said the plenum would enable the CPM to turn around prior to the assembly elections in West Bengal.
The CPM general secretary said he has all the options open in order to counter the BJP and its allies nationally.
The CPM, which lost West Bengal after 34 years to the Trinamool, is trying to revive its fate. (ANI)
